Shabbat Your Body: How to Find True Rest Using the Alexander Technique

In this three-hour workshop, attendees will gain a hands-on understanding of how to internalize the wisdom of Shabbat through the body using the Alexander Technique. Our body is often overworking without our knowledge. Shabbat asks us to unburden ourselves from our weekday concerns and to not perform work, but how do we find that freedom and unburdening in the body as well as the mind? Often, our body is overworking in ways we don’t realize. How can we let go of the work physically as we use the Shabbat to rebalance and reset ourselves? The Alexander Technique can help us to find ways to release us from unnecessary work in the body. This workshop includes directed rest and hands-on work with author and master teacher Luc Vanier, founding Director for the School of Dance, College of Fine Arts, University of Utah.
