Avram Mandell

Avram Mandell is the founding director of Tzedek America. Tzedek America transforms lives, strengthens Jewish identity and changes the world through immersive social justice experiential education.

Prior to his pioneering work with Tzedek America, he served as Director of Education at Leo Baeck Temple in Los Angeles, California from 2004-2014. He received a Master of Arts degree in Jewish Education from the Hebrew Union College Ð Jewish Institute of Religion in Los Angeles. He was the Assistant Director of the URJ Camp Harlam and the NFTY-PAR advisor from 1995-1997. Avram is the creator of the Hebrew letter recognition App Alef Bet Bullseye.

Avram has studied improvisational comedy, has performed stand-up comedy across the country, is a percussionist and an avid pickle maker. He is married to Abby Fifer Mandell, MAEd, Executive Director of the Society & Business Lab at the USC Marshall School of Business, and is the proud father of Shai (7) and Bo (4).
