Parenting an LGBTQ+ Teen in the Age of Social Media

April 22, 2018 | 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

This workshop is dedicated to the memory of Blaze Bernstein, zichrono livracha, may his memory be a blessing.

Now more than ever parents are wondering how to help their LGBTQ+ teens with the unique struggles they face in the world. The topic of dating can be particularly fraught for both the teen and parental figure. With social media and dating apps promising the answer to every teen’s social and sexual needs, teens need more guidance than ever to make the wisest choices they can. The presenters, specialists in teen behavior, gender identity, and sexual orientation, can help you learn to talk with your LGBTQ+ teen about critical topics including sexuality, dating, and safe sex. There will be time to ask the presenters questions as well as to meet with other parents in small groups for disucssion.

And what does Judaism have to say about all this? Join us and find out. You may be surprised at the answer.

This workshop is for adults only. If you have or know of a teen who may be wondering about some of the same stuff from their side, send them to the companion workshop at this same time called, Real Talk: Being a Queer Kid in the Age of Social Media
