Communication in interfaith and intercultural Jewish families can be fraught. Whether it’s a new couple trying to create their own Jewish religious traditions or an adult child of intermarriage making a choice and navigating not only their parents observances, but also their own upbringing, the issues are both deeply personal and greatly affect the people we love. The changing nature of any religious observance and belief is something we all navigate internally. Yet too often, families start the conversation around religious disagreement from a point of pain rather than openness. Hurtful things are said, judgements are made, relationships are damaged. Join Rabbi Keara Stein, the Director of InterfaithFamily/LA and family therapist Lesley Silverstone, LMFT for an in-depth conversation about how to create a culture of healthy communication around religious and cultural beliefs.
